Zoom Software was a shareware distributor.

Packaging[]

Shareware releases by Zoom Software were packaged in two-piece clamshell boxes. The games were released on 3.5 inch floppy disks.

Games[]

Following is a list of games available in Zoom Software's shareware series. With the exception of DOOM, these releases feature unique, custom cover artwork.

  • Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold (Titled as "Blake Stone" on the front cover)
  • Crystal Caves
  • DOOM
  • Duke Nukem
  • OverKill
  • Wolfenstein 3D (Titled as "Wolfenstein" on the front cover)

Blake Stone cover art[]

The box art for the Zoom release of Aliens of Gold uses a first person perspective, and shows Blake Stone facing several enemies: A humanoid Fluid Alien; an Experimental Mutant Human; a brown, furry form of the Experimental Genetic Alien; and a Pod Alien. Two turrets are also attached to the ceiling, and some alien capsules are in the background.

Peculiarly, the Fluid Alien on the cover is depicted in a humanoid form, even though the enemy cannot take that form in the game. Also, the version of the Experimental Mutant Human shown on the cover appears only in Planet Strike.

Trivia[]

  • Zoom Software releases do not state anywhere on the front cover that the game is shareware. The back of the box does however mention that the game is shareware.
