Zoom Software was a shareware distributor.
Shareware releases by Zoom Software were packaged in two-piece clamshell boxes. The games were released on 3.5 inch floppy disks.
Following is a list of games available in Zoom Software's shareware series. With the exception of DOOM, these releases feature unique, custom cover artwork.
- Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold (Titled as "Blake Stone" on the front cover)
- Crystal Caves
- Duke Nukem
- Wolfenstein 3D (Titled as "Wolfenstein" on the front cover)
Blake Stone cover art Edit
The box art for the Zoom release of Aliens of Gold uses a first person perspective, and shows Blake Stone facing several enemies: A humanoid Fluid Alien; an Experimental Mutant Human; a brown, furry form of the Experimental Genetic Alien; and a Pod Alien. Two turrets are also attached to the ceiling, and some alien capsules are in the background.
Peculiarly, the Fluid Alien on the cover is depicted in a humanoid form, even though the enemy cannot take that form in the game. Also, the version of the Experimental Mutant Human shown on the cover appears only in Planet Strike.
- Zoom Software releases do not state anywhere on the front cover that the game is shareware. The back of the box does however mention that the game is shareware.
