Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold is the first of two games in the Blake Stone series. The shareware version was released on December 3, 1993. The full version came with a manual which contained a comic titled A Blake Stone Adventure. Its sequel Planet Strike was released in 1994.

Release[]

Blake Stone was a shareware title, with the full registered version originally being available to purchase directly from Apogee by mail-order. Retail releases of the full version were made by Manaccom, FormGen, WizardWorks, and Vision Shareware.

Digital releases[]

On January 5, 1998, Aliens of Gold was made available for purchase online via 3D Realms' website as a registered download. On March 10, 2009, Aliens of Gold was re-released digitally via GOG.com. On July 2, 2013, both Blake Stone games were made available on Steam as part of The Apogee Throwback Pack. On October 23, 2014, Apogee released the 3D Realms Anthology, a download-only collection of games that included both Blake Stone titles. On May 6, 2015, both Blake Stone titles were released digitally yet again, this time as part of the Steam edition of the 3D Realms Anthology.

Story[]

It is the year 2140. Robert Wills Stone III, also known as Blake Stone, is a British secret agent who previously served in the British Royal Navy. Blake must defeat Dr. Goldfire, a mad scientist and the leader of the STAR organization, who is creating nightmarish creatures to rule the Universe.
